VELFAC Top-Guided Windows
Outward Opening Sash
Slim Frame
Controlled Ventilation
Low-Maintenance
VELFAC top-guided windows are a practical and elegant choice for rooms where ventilation, daylight and ease of use are all important. Hinged at the top, the sash opens outwards while remaining guided in position, helping air enter from above and below while maintaining a neat, contemporary appearance.
They are particularly useful above kitchen worktops, sinks, cabinets and other areas where a lower handle position and controlled opening can make everyday use easier. Built around the VELFAC 200 ENERGY system, they combine slim sightlines, composite wood/aluminium construction, 48mm triple glazing and made-to-measure specification.

Controlled Ventilation with a Clean External Finish
A slim top-opening window for kitchens, extensions and contemporary homes.
VELFAC top-guided windows open from the bottom while the top of the sash remains guided, creating ventilation at the head of the window and allowing air to circulate effectively. This makes them a good choice for rooms where fresh air is important but where a fully side-opening casement may not be the most convenient option.
In everyday use, the design is simple and practical. The adjustable friction arms can hold the sash open in calm weather, while the espagnolette handle incorporates a ventilation position.
On taller units, additional circular catch handles may be used to help maintain wind and water tightness.
As part of the VELFAC 200 ENERGY system, top-guided windows share the same slim external appearance as fixed windows, side-hung windows and side-guided windows. This is valuable on extensions and full-home glazing projects where the visual rhythm of the elevation matters.
The composite wood/aluminium construction provides external durability and internal warmth, while the current 48mm triple glazing specification supports strong energy performance and year-round comfort.
Benefits
Top-guided VELFAC windows are especially useful where you want a window to open for fresh air but do not want the sash to swing fully out from the side. The guided movement gives excellent airflow and good control, while the handle position makes them practical in kitchens, utility rooms and spaces with furniture or worktops below the window.
They are also popular on contemporary elevations because they retain the slim VELFAC look.
Opening and fixed units can be mixed across the same façade without creating a patchwork of different frame widths. For homeowners, this means practical ventilation without compromising the clean external design that makes VELFAC such a strong choice for modern homes.

Top-Guided Window Specification Options
Tailor the size, colour, glazing, ventilation and hardware to the room.
VELFAC top-guided windows are made to measure and specified around the required opening size, glass weight, room use and ventilation needs. They can be incorporated into wider window combinations with fixed units or other opening types, helping create a balanced façade with practical opening lights where needed.
The exterior aluminium frame can be finished in standard RAL colours, with selected matt, gloss, granite, metallic and anodised options.
The internal timber can be clear lacquered or painted to suit the interior design.
Current VELFAC 200 ENERGY units are triple glazed as standard, with options for solar control, acoustic, privacy, safety or laminated glass where the project requires it.
Hardware and accessory choices include standard espagnolette operation, safety-lock or key-lock handles, lockable restrictors, acoustic trickle vents, click vents, VELFAC Maxi handles and motorised operation for high-level or natural ventilation strategies.

Made-to-Measure Top-Guided Window Pricing
Accurate pricing depends on size, glazing, finish and ventilation requirements.
Because VELFAC top-guided windows are manufactured to order, pricing is based on the exact specification rather than a fixed off-the-shelf size.
The final cost will depend on the dimensions, colour, internal finish, glass type, restrictors, vents, electric operation and whether the window forms part of a larger combination frame.
View Glazing can help you decide where top-guided windows make sense and where another VELFAC opening style may be more suitable. For example, a side-hung window may be better where a clear escape opening is needed, while a side-guided window may be preferable where easy internal cleaning from upper floors is the priority.
